HERIDADEGATO

HERIDADEGATO is a Spanish brand founded in Madrid, Spain, in 2013 by María Rosenfeldt and Jacobo Salvador, two years before they met and started a personal relation. They started working as an experimental exercise with a short budget, producing their first collection with reworked vintage and second hand items.

María was born in Madrid sourrounded by pencils and papers within a family related to the art world. She got a degree in fashion at the only fashion school in Madrid and started to work in the Agatha Ruiz de la Prada studio, where she enhace experience on how to build a brand and collections.

Jacobo was born in A Coruña, a small city in the Northwest of Spain. Without any artists references on his family, he always wanted to have a creative job. He got a degree in Design after moving to Madrid and started and Architecture and Fine Arts studies that left after one year.

HERIDADEGATO is a special case where they (María and Jacobo) put all their references from art, music and icons like Sinéad O’Connor, Winona Ryder, Björk, Tori Amos or Enya. Music bands like Nirvana, The Smiths, The Replacements and Joy Division. Cotemporary artists as Sarah Lucas, Tracey Emin, Luciano Fabro and Jannis Kounellis. Adding an special interest in the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.

Trying to give some sanity to the world, HERIDADEGATO avoids producing new fabrics, that’s why they work mostly with deadstock materials, introducing high quality fake leather and faux fur in their winter collections and they also produce some sustainable fabrics with organic non GMO cotton Made in Spain. In every collection they like to work traditional crafts from Spain, researching for experts in laces, knitwear and wool work.

For HERIDADEGATO fashion is everything but nothing. It’s  a hard working machine that can change the world, the society and create a new way of comsuption.
