Wendi Reed

Wendi Reed began her career as a designer after opening a home furnishings store called The Reeds in Brooklyn, New York with her husband. Looking to add another dimension to the store, Wendi created a line of handmade, one-of-a-kind sweaters constructed from her vast collection of vintage clothing. Her whimsical combinations of textures and patterns became the calling card for the Wendi Reed collection, which was launched in the Fall of 2008.

The Wendi Reed vision is about applying the philosophy of couture to ready-to-wear using hand sewing techniques, luxurious yarns and traditional fabrics; mixing in a modern edgy twist that makes us unique. It's not about deconstruction necessarily, but more reforming the design through mixing in woven fabrics and menswear details. Although classified as knitwear, visually it says so much more. “We love to experiment how to push our design aesthetic further yet keeping that classic American sportswear edge. We believe that we are at the forefront of well thought-out and well-made clothing.”
